Creature Shot

Creature Animation Shot - CJ Burbage from CJ Burbage on Vimeo.

Hey everyone! Here is a new shot I just finished up! I wanted to do a creature shot for a long time, so after a few small tests with mechanics I felt I had a good enough understanding to take on a longer sequence. I learned a lot about body mechanics for both bipeds and quadrupeds. I shot reference of myself, for the biped stuff and used reference materials I found online for the panther. It's definitely the most challenging animation I've done to date. The two sections that really kept me up at night were when he switches the bow between hands and draws it, and the last battle shot between the two characters. There was a lot of switching between FK/IK and constraints, but with a solid plan going in it made it a lot more manageable and easier to work with. Thanks for checking it out!

Earthbender Study

Earthbender Study from CJ Burbage on Vimeo.

I just finished up this quick study on the earthbender sequence from the opening of the original Last Airbender. It's nice to do little exercises like this to keep the animation muscles working! Plus studying 2D animation is never a bad thing!

Big Cat walk cycle

Big Cat walk cycle from CJ Burbage on Vimeo.

Here's my first attempt at a quadruped walk cycle. This was really fun, but I'm looking forward to doing some more dynamic creature stuff! Also expect a BIG update soon. I have some great news coming, but I want to stay tight lipped at the moment. Sorry for the tease!

Super Lift

Super Lift from CJ Burbage on Vimeo.

Hey everyone! Here is my latest animation test I did while attending CG Spectrum's Rent-A-Mentor program. I must thank my instructor Mark for his amazing critiques and insight. This shots focus on body mechanics, and getting a real sense of weight, although exaggerated. It was a real challenge to get the weight of the car down and took a lot of fine tuning to get it right. Hopefully I was able to achieve that with this animation. Let me know what you guys think! Again, a huge thanks to my instructor Mark Pullyblank and the guys at CG Spectrum. It was a great experience!
